Central County Fire Department has a Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program for our community. This program was developed to provide an opportunity for families to work with our fire department and address any concerns with their children and fire. Our program includes conversations with the child and/or family in order to assess risk level and providing a successful educational component.
A question we are often asked is, “What should I do if I catch my child playing with fire/matches?” You should immediately call 9-1-1 if you have an active or spreading fire. If our fire department responds to the fire incident, necessary mandates could require your family to enroll in our program. In any situation where there may not be an active fire, you are strongly encouraged to contact our Fire Prevention bureau at (650) 558-7648 to set up a meeting with your child.
